In KU's two-year B.S. program on the KU Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kan., students work with the latest technology at a top academic instiution sharing a complex with the region's premier academic health center, The University of Kansas Hospital.
To be eligible for admission, students must complete their first two years of undergraduate prerequisites from KU's Lawrence campus or another qualified accredited institution. Students on the Lawrence campus interested in this program should declare pre-health information management as their major. They also must contact the KU Department of Health Information Management for assignment to an adviser.
After graduation, the student becomes eligible to sit for the American Health Information Management Association National Registry Examination that allows the successful candidate to be officially recognized as a Registered Health Information Administrator and utilize the RHIA credential after their name.

The joint Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and Master of Health Services Administration (BSHIM/MHSA) program is offered through KU's Department of Health Policy and Management in association with the Department of Health Information Management at the KU Medical Center. By participating in the intensive, full-time bridge program, students can achieve both degrees in five years. Students pursuing the BSHIM/MHSA will be prepared to assume management and executive positions in health-related organizations and to bring their expertise in health information management to these positions.
